strip

strip [options] files

Remove information from ELF object files or archive files, thereby reducing file sizes and freeing disk space. The following items can be removed:

1)

Symbol table.

2)

Debugging information.

3)

Line number information.

4)

Static symbol information.

5)

External symbol information.

6)

Block delimiters.

7)

Relocation bits.

Options

-b

Don't strip items 4, 5, and 6.

-l

Strip only item 3 (line number information).

-r

Don't strip items 4, 5, and 7.

-V

Print the version number of strip on standard error.

-x

Strip only items 2 and 3.
